Description
In Oceanside, CA, on the pier, I noticed a homeless man, getting ready to lie down on a bench. He had, what appeared to be, all his belongings in a grocery cart next to him. I approached him and held out some money, and asked if he minded that I take his picture. He said he didn't mind. He laid down on the bench. The irony, I felt, was that the bench he laid down upon, had the inscription "It's a Wonderful World" on the front side of it. I look out at the beautiful blue ocean, down the nicely-constructed pier, out at the beach at all the beautiful buildings/residences lining the coast, and then back to him and cart of belongings. There's people milling about everywhere and many people enjoying the beach. I think to myself, such a beautiful setting, with great weather, and yes, it's a wonderful world, but for some, life is hard and full of strife and maybe not as wonderful to them. We all need to be thankful for our lives and all that we have and help those who are less fortunate. In post processing, I added the blue for the lettering on the bench to make it more visible and a creative rendering. 1343f
